Family life

Andriolli was the first of the Polish artists who made a fortune from his own work and this in a relatively short time. Already during his exile in Vyatka, his talent brought him measurable financial benefits, which were increased after his return to the country. Commissions from French, German and English publishers multiplied his fortune. This was not only the result of his talent, but also of his extraordinary diligence. He was able to work twelve hours a day without neglecting social life. He was also very thrifty and could holds himself in high esteem.

Andriolli was a very attractive man, sociable and talented. The well-read, refined, gallant man became the life and soul of the party in the milieu where his financial status was also important.

After returning from Paris, he met Natalia of Osiny, 19 years his younger, a daughter of the landowner Adam Tarnowski (the coat of arms of the Rolicz family), and began to woo her with the intention to marry. Natalia’s father, however, treated Elwiro Andriolli, just as many famous artists at that time were treated by the wealthy landed gentry and rejected his proposal. Thus the wedding took place only after Adam Tarnowski’s death.
